Warderick Wells
Our visit to Warderick Wells continues with entertaining “credit card captains” (charter boats), and in spite of the uncooperative weather we still get some snorkeling in!

We’re in the Exumas Land and Sea Park, an ecological preserve in the Exuma islands. It’s amazingly abundant with sea life, you’ll never believe how up-close-and-personal we’ve gotten with the most unexpected sea animals! All those photos and more, in today’s post!
We made it to a new island chain! Right away, we saw some new wildlife: the largest native species to the Bahamas, the rock iguana! We also saw our first sharks, at the worst possible time! Don’t worry, there are pictures!
We’re taking it easy in Rock Sound, which means miles of hiking in the hot sun! We explore the Cathedral Cave, the Ocean Hole (including some beautiful fish!) and stock up on groceries and rum in preparation for our next island chain. It’s not all sunshine though, we’ve got an injury on board, plus a major diesel leak!
My brother and sister-in-law tried out a week of boat life, and we took them to all our favorite spots. Incidentally, we had some of the worst weather, and the worst dinghy rides, but they were good sports and were eventually rewarded with the most beautiful sunny day in a swimming-pool colored anchorage. My sister-in-law wrote a guest post about their adventures with us, and her thoughts on boat life!
We caught our first edible fish! We also face some adversity when an engine hiccups and we lose some speed – and can’t see any reason for the issue! And last but not least, we have a close up encounter with some dolphins on a beautiful sail along Eleuthera!
After spending a few days with friends in a protected bay, we took off on our own to explore Governor’s Harbour! We wandered all over town, from the pink sand beaches to the hundred year old pink library! After we’d thoroughly explored, we headed in to the Friday night fish fry for some fish and entertainment! The DJ played some old favorites to warm up the crowd for the limbo contest, then it was showtime! We had a great time exploring this town and can’t wait to share some of the views with you here!
We’re exploring some Bahamian icons today! The Glass Window Bridge, the Queen’s Baths, and a blowhole! There’s no such thing as a typical day for us, today was very busy with moving the boat, going ashore, spearfishing practice, and then drinks with friends! We took a lot of photos and we’re sharing them here!
We motored over to Spanish Wells for the next bout of strong winds. It’s a good sized town so we got to do a little exploring and a little stocking up, plus it was a great place to celebrate my birthday! We’ve seen some spectacular sunsets and sunrises while here, so I’m sharing a skyline overload in today’s post!
We’re on the move! For the first time, we tried out our spinnaker sail! However, the wind was just too light so we motored to a new cay and did some underwater exploring. Sea stars, coral, turtles, and a live conch! It feels good to be on the move again.
