We had a ton of fun with the kiddo this month, from watching him turn one to watching him turn into a capable toddler! But beyond that, we really struggled with making progress on anything else this month, which is not good because winter is coming!
Camper renovation, tree removal, harvest season – it was a busy month! We kept trying to get ahead of our project lists, even as the projects kept piling it…and then we caught a skunk. Uh, what do we do next?
Like typical Michigan summers, our July was jam-packed with events, day trips, and lots and lots of projects. In this month’s post: Caribbean blues in northern Michigan lakes, a grand master bathroom renovation, lots of garden and plant pics, plus a cute little boy who is growing like a weed. This is where we sort of announce our new adventure, with an epic trip to go pick up a camper! Life on the road with a baby is busy, and tiring, but just because things are hard doesn’t mean they’re not worth doing.

We spent at least half the month traveling, with a giant trip down to Charleston where we caught up with friends and reminisced about our favorite spots. Then, our first camping trip with baby! Summer has officially started and we’re soaking it all in!
We see-sawed back and forth between warm sunny days, and late-season snow. April was a challenging month because winter lingered so long. We still spent as much time outside as we could!
We had one week of particularly great weather in March, and I used it to get some sweet airtime with my drone. I’m amped about those shots! We also had some really nice social visits this month, which almost made up for the wintry weather that ended the month on a real low note.
For being a short month, it was a looooong month. Isolation and sleep deprivation were the big challenges of February. We still got out of the house whenever we could, including a couple trips out to the coast on sunny days!
We did our best to get outside as much as we could this month! There’s more to consider now that we have to figure out how to keep the baby warm when we explore, but more practice is all we need.
I’m happy to leave this month behind me. We’ve been sleep deprived and facing bureaucratic challenges this month. We’ve been mostly successful in overcoming! And when we’re feeling down, we just look at our smiley baby and all is well again.
