St. Augustine
On the heels of getting beat up on an ocean passage, we make our way inland to the calm waters of the ICW. Instead, we’re met with more rough weather – this time in the anchorage!
On the heels of getting beat up on an ocean passage, we make our way inland to the calm waters of the ICW. Instead, we’re met with more rough weather – this time in the anchorage!
We head out into the ocean to find nothing as forecast. Instead of a nice, easy sail, we get beat up by steep waves and adverse currents. It was not a fun trip!
After a harrowing escape from the boatyard basin, we’re finally free! Back in the water, with a fresh clean boat, we’re ready for an offshore hop!
We’re wrapping up life in the boatyard, getting on the last coat of wax, getting the saildrives put back together, and putting bottom paint on the last few spots on the hull.
After some setbacks, we apply a couple layers of bottom paint and even get a bright new boot stripe!
We make a plan and then…scrap it. Several times. Finally, the weather cooperates and we begin painting! But then we have another setback…
When we hauled out of the water, we found a hole in the boat below the waterline! This is VERY BAD. Luckily, it’s an easy fix (although there are a lot of steps) and I like working with epoxy!
How did I fix the hole? Read more!
The weather won’t cooperate with us, so when my mom asks if we want to take a road trip down to Florida to meet her, we jump at the chance! We needed to complete an errand there, so we’re killing two birds with one stone!
We’ve been living that boat yard life lately, and let me tell you – it is not easy! I’m pretty shocked at how meager the facilities are here. You wouldn’t believe what we have to do to get drinking water or showers.
Have you been wondering how we’re getting this giant boat out of the water? Wonder no more! We get our girl into the travel lift and up, up and away she goes!
