The Plan, Revised
Hey! It’s so easy to share the day-to-day details and sometimes I overlook the bigger plan when I’m making blog posts. So let’s talk about our over-arching goals!
Short Term
We’re back at the marina for hurricane season. At the moment we’re summer-izing the boat, prepping it for a hot summer.
Medium Term
We’re not good at sitting in one place, so we’re going to spend a month or two with family in Indiana and Michigan.
We’re going to have a bomb-ass summer hanging out with family and friends, exploring Northern Michigan, being there for birthdays, and doing a brew-tour of the Michigan coast!
I’ve already started looking up car shows to take our bus to, not that I really enjoy car shows, but because I miss our bus so much!
Long Term
We’re very excited about heading back to the Bahamas as soon as hurricane season is over. We barely explored the Abacos, and the Bahamas have so much more to offer! We want to dig deeper into the Bahamas, and hopefully host some friends and family so we can share our favorite aspects of cruising life!
After that, though, we’re talking about selling the boat. There’s a lot of things about boat life we love, but we constantly talk about optimization, because we’re hardwired engineers. And truthfully, for us, this is not the optimal boat. We freaking love Hobbes and everything she’s done for us, this girl is SOLID and absolutely the best sailing catamaran we could have purchased. The living space is amazing, and I will always love this boat.
That being said, and I will write a whole post on this when it’s time, there are aspects that just aren’t working for us. Sailing life involves so much waiting, so much slow travel, and so much…boredom. If I were to get another boat (then someone please stage an intervention), it would be one that travels fast, and isn’t weather-dependent, and…is all about the destination, not the journey.
Maybe another season in the Bahamas will change our minds. Maybe it won’t. Either way, you can bet there will be adventures!
